St Patrick's Day Parade... March 1st?

Anyone who knows Binghamton knows it's strange. But did you know we celebrate St. Patrick's Day first Saturday in March? Silly, I know. It's basically so that our marching bands can play other bigger parades on the real day, and other bands from out of town will come here. I mean, would you give up marching through the biggest parade in the world in NYC to come to Binghamton?

I thought not.

This year, I started playing with the Broome Country Celtic Pipes and Drums band. I am a tenor drummer. My nickname is, at least I hope it is, "Boom Boom." In a few weeks, they will vote to see if I am officially in. I don't know if that will be good or bad.

Basically, tenor plays the bass beat. When I get it, I will be able to flourish - or swing the mallets like a pro. But for now, none of that. But I do get to wear this "amazing" (Sarcasm) little outfit.

Ian is a bagpiper, but he likes to hang with the drummers. We're more fun, even if the pipers don't like to admit it.

Actually, there is a little West Side Story rivalry going on in the BCCPD. They say the drummers do nothing but drool. That's ok. We know the pipers blow.

And here's Baggins. He's our unofficial mascot.

Nice. I liked your post on your hunt for the jackalope. You never see one on TV anymore.

You always make me smile. I have the urge to break out my old Irish step dancing moves at the very site of plaid.
Good luck & kick some piper ass!

(Baggins is adorable, but the outfit worries me....bring stain removal)
